Malaita Kingz 0 – Solomon Warriors 2

The Malaita Kingz defence dug in well in the opening minutes but a slip up in the 25th minute allowed Furai to give Solomon Warriors the lead. This was after Malaita Kingz themselves broke out of their half with intent a couple of times only to be repelled by the staunch Warriors backline.
The match then evened out as Solomon Warriors tried to take control of proceedings but Malaita Kingz kept the pressure on them with close marking. Again, unforced errors were the biggest weakness for Solomon Warriors especially on attack where final passes fell short or did not find their target.
Malaita Kingz were not enjoying the match themselves as they faced an effective offside trap up front which doubled as a solid brick wall. Whenever, there was a threat it was typical for the Solomon Warriors to crowd around it to block any shots or passes.
Ian Paia, started in this match but did not have much of an impact until the second half when long diagonal aerial balls started reaching him. In the 54th minute he tucked away Solomon Warriors second from a similar cross which he controlled in the air before volleying it into the back of the net.
This is the tenth victory in a row for Moses Toata’s side whose last lost in the Telekom S-League was to Western United in December, 2014.
