THE ESTABLISHMENT OF ELITE PROGRAMMES IS REQUIRED TO PROVIDE A CONTINUOUS SUPPLY OF TOP PLAYERS FOR NATIONAL TEAMS ACROSS ALL DISCIPLINES OF THE GAME.

THE DELIVERY OF ELITE PROGRAMMES IN SOLOMON ISLANDS HAS TO BE THROUGH A STRUCTURED PROGRAMME INVOLVING QUALITY COACHING, QUALITY COMPETITION ENVIRONMENT AND PATHWAYS.

STATE OF PLAY
Elite Programmes cover the national teams that will represent Solomon Islands in international competitions in men, youth,
women, futsal and beach soccer.
At the moment the national teams are based on FIFA and OFC timelines and there is a lack of attention to the establishment of elite teams training on a regular basis. This approach needs to change to one where the development of players is an ongoing activity.

• Establish elite teams for youth, women, fusal and beach soccer
• Professionalise the preparation of national teams to achieve international excellence
• Promote Solomon Islands players overseas
• Support player development pathways for talented football players
KEY PRINCIPLES
In the pursuit of the development of coaching it is important
to abide by the following principles:
• Develop a ‘home-grown’ programme refl ecting the local football environment
• Continuity is the key, success is a milestone
• Recognise and consult with key stakeholders on the ground
• Develop where growth is needed, professionalise all other aspects
• Football resources must be made available including coaching, football education and equipment
• Develop local partnerships for success
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
• To greater strengthen the post of head coach for the national teams
• To professionalize the training environment by standardizing programmes, materials and equipment
• To implement elite player register via COMET
• Club licensing for clubs in the S‐League framework
• To greater strengthen the post of head coach for the national teams
• Establish football philosophy for national teams
• To establish international friendly matches calendar
• To qualify for the FIFA World Cup in U17 and U20 and Olympics
• To be competitive at World Cup tournaments
• To establish or facilitate scholarships for Talented Players
• Promote Solomon Islands in international player market (player development pathway)
• To establish a new brand for the national football teams

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
The key performance indicators for elite football are:
• SIFF MA Grassroots, Youth and Senior Coaching Modules developed in collaboration with OFC Technical Department
• At least 200 grassroots coaches trained, at least 100 youth coaches trained and at least 50 senior coaches trained throughout Solomon Islands
• At least 4 OFC A-Licence coaches, at least 8 OFC B-Licence coaches, at least 20 OFC C-Licence coaches
• At least 5 coaching instructors trained
• SIFF Education Centre set up and annual education programmed formalised each year
