Solomon Warriors 5 – Real Kakamora 1

The victory takes them right back to the top of league ladder on 16 points where they lead Malaita Kingz by one point. However, the advantage remains with Solomon Warriors who have at least two matches in hand and with maximum points could complete the first round of the league four points clear given the way they are playing.
With Micah Lea’alafa now out of the picture for Solomon Warriors, the return of Jerry Donga from injury was much welcomed but he was rusty as best and had to be replaced. At the back Emmanuel Poila was out due to injury so benchwarmer, Rolland Mamanika made another of his rare appearances. Real Kakamora looked more solid in the back compared to their last game especially with the return of Fred Farui from suspension and Augustine To’imae.
Solomon Warriors opened scoring in the 10th minute through Kency Tangis to gain the lead despite offside claims from the defence. Dennis Ifunaoa made it 2-0 seven minutes with an easy goal after Gibson Daudau crossed into the box.
Real Kakamora were not fazed by the Solomon Warriors onslaught and gained some ground in the game with Paul Hiri’s chip over Anthony Talo taking the score line to 2-1. This status quo survived past half-time and it was not till the final stages of the game that Solomon Warriors scored again.
Daudau made it 3-1 with a lovely shot past Roy Funu after back pass found him unmarked outside the penalty box. Tangis struck again in stoppage time and it appeared that that was all for the day till Ian Paia headed home a cross from Daudau for the match to end 5-1 in favour of Solomon Warriors.
All three finals came down to defensive errors by Real Kakamora who performed well despite the story that will be told by the score line.
