KOSSA 5 – West Honiara 1

The rout was started by Harrison Mala after 23 minutes with a candidate for the goal of the season. Mala ran in from the left and connected a header with a curved cross from Moffat Deramoa sending it past Polycarp Bonave.
Earlier on, it was George Suri who was threatening the West Honiara goalmouth but his match ended after clashing with Bonave while chasing a cross. His injury was serious enough to warrant a transfer to the hospital for further medical attention. He was replaced by Obed Ofea.
Just before halftime KOSSA were 2-0 in front with Mala grabbing his second with a neat finish.
The second half saw more domination from KOSSA as Hudson Felani, Chris Tafoa and national youth striker, Larry Zama got in on the action. Felani’s goal was a straightforward conclusion to a strong counter run and Tafoa added his name via the penalty spot after Zama was fouled in the box.
Minutes later Zama added the fifth goal after beating two defenders to a through pass which he calmly slotted past Bonave.
West Honiara grabbed a consolation goal late in extra time as Khaled Taro’s free kick dipped behind Silas Seda for the match to end 5-1.
