X-Beam 1 – Solomon Warriors 4

The match delivered everything fans were expecting with a lot of heated exchanges and aggressive runs but the comprehensive win by Solomon Warriors was somewhat a surprise. A win for X-Beam or a tighter margin was not a far fetched idea before the match but this notion was flattened by goal a hungry Solomon Warriors pack who had a fortnight’s break behind them.
X-Beam opened strongly and for a while it looked like Solomon Warriors were struggling to contain their quick passing forwards. One such string of passes resulted in the first goal of the match by John Duddley giving X-Beam the lead followed by rapturous applause from their fans.
However, just as quickly as the goal went X-Beam lost their rhythm and one could feel the Solomon Warriors boilers warming up. Any doubt about whether it would be another Solomon Warriors day was dispelled when Dennis Ifunaoa hammered home a cross in the 37th minute to equalise.
Minutes later winger Gibson Daudau forces Eddie Ramo to diving save with a shot to the far post.
The second half was mostly one sided as Solomon Warriors added another three goals to wrap up their win including a two from horrendous defensive errors on the part of X-Beam.
Moffat Kilifa scored Solomon Warriors’ second in the 51st minute after an erroneous clearance effort from Silas Samo. Kilifa who was at the right place at the right picked up the loose ball, raced into the penalty box and fired past Ramo.
Within eight minutes Solomon Warriors had the buffer goal bagged when Judd Molea saw Ramo off his line and he lofted the ball over the X-Beam goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
Ifunaoa then topped of the day with his second goal – a blistering shot to the roof of the net after beating Tome Faisi to a through pass from Molis Gagame Jnr. With the goal, Ifunaoa also takes his personal tally to 10 goals for the season.
The result means that Solomon Warriors will stay on top of the league table at least until when the competition resumes in January. They have now tallied 20 points from nine matches and are safely ahead of Koloale who have one match in hand but even a win will see them 2 points behind Solomon Warriors.
X-Beam: 1 (John Duddley 22’)
Solomon Warriors: 4 (Dennis Ifunaoa 37’ 65’, Moffat Kilifa 51’, Judd Molea 59’)
Halftime: 1-1
