Malaita Kingz 0 – Koloale 2

Once again Joe Luwi was Koloale’s star of the day but the hot topic would be the performance of their opponents who could not get on the scoreboard despite dominating the match in terms of possession and shots on goal.
Before Koloale even had any form of control, Malaita Kingz had fired off a number of shots already including two that forced the goalkeeper to some top class saves. Michael Misitana was on fire on the right wing for Malaita Kingz but like most of his team mates left their scoring boots at home.
Koloale struggled to get a rhythm but as soon as they found it they were ahead. Luwi was as calm as a cat and took his time to control the Ian Paia cross before releasing it into the back of the net in the 14th minute.
Koloale then upped the ante with Mostyn Beui working hard in the midfield but Malaita Kingz refused to let in any more goals before the midway breather.
Malaita Kingz were just as ambitious in the second half as they were in the first probably believing that attacking is the best form of defending. This, of course, forced Koloale to be on the back foot a number of times but the goal they were gunning for never came.
Three-quarter way into the match Koloale sank the buffer goal with beach soccer international, Luwi, again finding a way past Malaita Kingz goalkeeper, Leon Fox. Luwi forced past the Malaita Kingz defenders and despite the pressure coolly curled the ball past Fox.
The win means that Koloale are behind Solomon Warriors, at the top of the table, by just two points with their haul of 18 points. This comes on the back of five wins and three draws for coach Gideon Omokirio who took over Koloale at the start of the season.
Solomon Warriors are also without a loss this season and will be looking at this result as clear indication that the battle will be between them and Koloale.
Malaita Kingz: 0
Koloale: 2 (Joe Luwi 14’ 46’)
Halftime: 1-0
