Solomon Warriors 5 – Hana 2

The star of the day, however, was the Lawson Tama pitch which offered a quality surface despite an overnight drenching. This enabled Solomon Warriors to play its system of shot passes that lead to quick through balls to their speedy forwards.
Only five minutes was needed for Solomon Warriors to get their rhythm going and secure the first goal. Lea’alafa topped off a string of quick passes and then dribbled past the Hana keeper to score.
His team mate, Dennis Ifunaoa, extended the lead just before halftime to take his tally for the season to 11 goals. The quick-footed striker had no trouble rounding the Hana defence before finishing superbly.
Lea’alafa struck against just after the restart to give Solomon Warriors a healthy 3-0 lead.
Hana were better organised in the early stages of the second and seriously threatened Solomon Warriors through counterattacks but the ‘men in red’ were always quick to recover.
Keiki Tsuruta, Hana’s Japanese forward, however, a way through after beating two defenders and shooting through a narrow channel to take the scores to 3-1. The goal was celebrated loudly by the Lawson Tama crowd who enjoyed watching the player’s dribbling skills.
Unfortunately for Hana, more trouble was heading their way as Solomon Warriors got two more goals to bring the match haul to five. Bata Furai capitalised on a defensive error and raced into the penalty box to score feigning to the right before shooting over the advancing goalkeeper.
Lea’alafa sealed the match for Solomon Warriors with eight minutes remaining courtesy of another defensive error giving him the opportunity to tap the ball into the net from six yards out.
Moussa Kourouma guaranteed Hana a more respectable finish with a goal right on full time.
Solomon Warriors increase their tally to 24 points following this result which maintains their three point buffer against the closest chaser Koloale even if they win against bottom placed Real Kakamora in their next match.
Hana remains in the sixth position.
