The SIFF Technical Department recently concluded a three-day grassroots coaching course aimed at empowering local coaches, with 25 participants, including 6 women, attending the program designed to bolster coaching skills for youth in schools, communities, and clubs.
Held from 4th to 6th May 2026, the course offered a mix of theoretical and practical sessions, allowing coaches to enhance their understanding of effective training methods. Participants engaged in interactive activities, which provided a platform to apply what they learned in a real-world context.
The course focused on the foundational principles of grassroots football, emphasizing child-centred coaching methodologies, the importance of creating fun and safe learning environments, and offering age-appropriate activities tailored for young players.

“This training was not just about imparting knowledge, but rather about laying a strong foundation for coaches who want to kick-start their careers and contribute to football development in their communities,” said Moses Toata, SIFF Technical Director.
Coaches who attended the course expressed enthusiasm about the knowledge gained and the potential for making a meaningful impact in their local football programs.
The SIFF Technical Department continues to champion the development of football at all levels and is excited about the positive changes these newly trained coaches will bring to the sport in their communities.
