Eels resume training for OFC Champions League Quarterfinal

Henderson Eels FC has resumed training on Monday in its preparation for the quarterfinal of the 2019 OFC Champions League.

Eels qualified into the last-eight of the region’s premier club championship after securing second spot in the Group B competition held in Lautoka, Fiji recently.

The qualification comes as a milestone achievement for the club in its brief football history since establishment in 2015.

Following return from Lautoka last Monday, the team took a week break before resuming training on Monday.

The entire squad turned up for training, including senior fullback Albert Junior. Albert was not part of the Lautoka trip due to heavy work commitment.

Head coach Eddie Marahare is overwhelmed with the turnout for the first two sessions and strongly admitted the need to focus on the heavy workload that lies ahead of them prior to the quarterfinal encounter.

While the last-eight draws are yet to be carried out, Marahare is confident of getting the team well prepared for the quarterfinal.

“We have started our preparations while awaiting draws for the quarterfinal which will take place on March 5.

“All players have turned up for training except for a few.

“There is so much work to do at the moment following the outing in the Group stage competition in Lautoka.

“I hope to strengthen and patch up areas where I see needs to be fixed in our game style,” Marahare adds.

The OFC Champions League quarterfinal will be played on April 6/7.
