FIFA MA Goalkeeping course opens in Honiara

Goalkeepers hailing from clubs and provinces throughout the country are gathered here in Honiara for the course led by FIFA goalkeeping instructor, James Bannatyne, at the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) academy centre.
The course was opened by SIFF Executive Committee member and chairman of the SIFF technical committee, Tommy Mana, who called on participants to make a difference in the standard of goalkeeping in Solomon Islands.
“Welcome to all participants to this course and to an opportunity for us to make a change in goalkeeping in Solomon Islands. Be as learned as you can be by the end of the week and make an impact in your communities and clubs when you go back,” Mana says.
Mana also acknowledged FIFA and OFC for their continuous support for SIFF in goalkeeping and other technical areas.
“I also want to offer SIFF’s sincere gratitude to the respective president’s FIFA and the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) for their support,” Mana says.
The course covers components which help the participants with their goalkeeping but also extends their perspectives to coaching other goalkeepers. It also covers an extensively the development process for goalkeepers at different age groups.
Bannatyne encourages the participants saying that the course is about them and their willingness to learn.
“I look forward to working with you this week to help you in your roles and capacities as goalkeepers. This week is about you and the development of goalkeeping in Solomon Islands,” Bannatyne says.
The course will conclude on Friday.
