Bonitos, Warriors meet again

The two teams will play this match at the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) academy field, the same venue which hosted their first test match on Thursday. It is scheduled for 3:00pm on Sunday 17th March and admission is free for the public.
Solomon Warriors took the upper hand in their previous friendly running away with a 5-2 win as the Bonitos struggled to match the pace and endurance of their opponents. Five Solomon Warriors players got on the scoresheet that day in a good reflection of a widespread scoring ability.
However, the Bonitos are not investing too much thought on their defeat preferring rather to highlight some of their better moments in the game.
Head coach, Jacob Moli, admits that his players lacked the capacity in certain areas but overall a lot of positives can be salvaged from the match.
“In our last game we struggled to match the efforts of Solomon Warriors. However, I am happy with the way some of our progressions turned out, they showed the potential of the team and we want to strengthen that,” Moli says.
The Warriors got their first true test against the Bonitos on Thursday and the result underlines the progress the team has made with their preparations for the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League so far. The match on Sunday would be an opportunity for them to build upon their strengths and correct some weaknesses they might have observed in the last game.
The Bonitos are headed for a clash with New Zealand on March 26 as the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers third-stage in Oceania draws to a close. Solomon Warriors are scheduled to play Amicale of Vanuatu on March 30 in the OFC Champions League.
