Kurukuru thank Spain for hospitality

The Kurukuru arrived in Spain last week and underwent an intensive technical program at the Ciudad del Futbol Pabellon in Las Rozas, Madrid. As part of the tour Kurukuru played 3 friendly matches including one against the Spanish national futsal team. The other 2 friendly matches were against Spanish club sides.
The tour was organised under a new development partnership between the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC). Kurukuru is the first team to visit Spain for training and mentoring under this partnership. The same partnership also covers technical support in Oceania for futsal through distribution of equipment.
Joseph Boso thanked the RFEF on behalf of the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) saying that the Kurukuru are so privileged to have the opportunity to train in Spain.
“It is hard to describe how thankful we are – the last week has been an amazing one for our training but also for ourselves personally, the players learnt a lot and we all learnt a lot. It was a privilege to train in the world class facilities that we used and the hospitality given to us by the RFEF has been warmest and most welcoming throughout,” Boso said.
Speaking on behalf of the RFEF Miguel Galan said that the RFEF is proud to host the Kurukuru and wished them all the best at the world cup.
“We are very happy to have Solomon Islands here in Spain and we hope the experience has been rewarding for you. We wish the team the best at the world cup – play for Solomon Islands and play to honour our friendship also,” Galan said.
In Thailand Kurukuru will undergo another 10 days of training and will play 2 more friendly matches before they play their first game on November 3 against Russia.
The team’s first friendly match is against world cup hosts Thailand on October 24. This will be followed by a rematch with Australia on October 25. The possibility of one more friendly match before the world cup kicks off is being examined by the team management.
