SIFF Congress underway

Twenty (20) delegates from provincial football associations throughout Solomon Islands arrived in Honiara over the weekend for the congress and have already participated in the first 2 days of workshops.
In his statement to the delegates at the opening ceremony Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) President, Martin Alufurai, requested participants to share their views about bringing football forward.
“I welcome all participants to the 21st SIFF congress. This is an avenue for us to discuss football and how we can go even better,” Alufurai said.
It seemed that Alufurai’s call was well received by the delegates since the pre-congress deliberations were lively with the member associations contributing their ideas as to how they want football to go forward in their respective provinces.
Part of the pre-congress workshops was used for presentations from the different heads of departments within the SIFF Secretariat. Delegates received information about competitions, education programs and other activities which were conducted by SIFF in the period July to December, 2009.
This morning the congress proper was convened and delegates will receive the official financial and activity reports from SIFF.
All delegates will return to their respective provinces this weekend.
