Solomon Warriors win TSL championship final

One of the best football matches ever to be witnessed in Solomon Islands between local clubs took more than 120 minutes to determine the winner. Such was the class of both clubs that spectators were kept on the edge of their seats until penalties finally separated the duo. The Telekom S-League will now proceed into the O-League playoffs between Koloale and Solomon Warriors to determine who will represent Solomon Islands in the next O-League season.

0m30s GOAL: Koloale 0 – Solomon Warriors 1. Solomon Warriors have taken the lead through Dennis Ifunaoa. Koloale were yet to settle down and the young striker used the opportunity to steal the ball and lob it over Shadrack Ramoni to give his side an early lead.
5m0s Solomon Warriors go close again through Ifunaoa but Ramoni was quickly to make the save. The game has levelled out and Koloale seemed to have overcome the shock goal in the opening minute.
6m30s Koloale pushed forward for an attempt but Brian Feni was able to retake control and sent the ball away to safety.
8m03s Another Solomon Warriors attack is closed down by the Koloale backline. Samson Takayama taking lead responsibilities in th area. Quickly Koloale turn play into an attack but Joses Nawo was not able to finish.
10m33s The lethal Carrol Kakate of Solomon Warriors is flagged for a foul but he was on his way to a clear goal scoring oppotunity.
11m58s Koloale win a free kick in a dangerous area. George Suri is lining up the shot but he sends over the cross bar and the Solomon Warriors supporters cheer his misfortune.
14m30s A Henry Fa’arodo corner kick troubles the Solomon Warriors goalmouth but they manage to make the clearance eventually. Koloale players are appealing for a handball in the box but the referee signals play on.
18m0s Koloale is starting to take control of the game and they are pushing forward with purpose. So the Solomon Warriors defenders have kept them frustrated. Benjamin Totori is not finding it easy to go past his markers.
21m23s Nawo is tackled heavily by Hadisi Aengari but the referee waved play on. On the other end of the park, Solomon Warriors push forward through Kidstone Billy and he puts a pass through to the goalscorer Ifunaoa who decides to go for goal and sends its way wide.
26m0s The Solomon Warriors defenders are putting a lot of work on the Koloale forwards and are making it very difficult for them to threaten their goal area.
28m15s The Solomon Warriors forwards pressure Koloale through Willie Daudau but his cut back pass is taken out by Takayama.
29m19s Ifunaoa picks up a pass behind the Koloale defenders and was about to take the shot when he was flagged offside.
30m22s Paia and Totori combine for one-two outside the Solomon Warriors penalty box but Aengari quickly came out to put a stop to it. But Koloale have won another free kick in the same area that they did earlier in the game. Nawo takes the kick and puts it between the defenders but the goalkeeper read it and made a fine save denying Koloale an equaliser.
32m36s Fa’ardo Jnr. goes for a goal after a quick run into the Solomon Warriors penalty box but Paul Huia makes another top class save.
34m37s Fa’arodo Jnr. is given a free kick after a heavy tackle on him outside the box. He takes his own free kick and curves it for goal but Aengari (Hadisi) makes a clearance header away.
39m30s Koloale are finding options limited up front but the same can be said for their opponents as both side’s defence find their footing.
43m0s A couple of cards are being showed to the Solomon Warriors players as patience starts to wane. Koloale have been lucky so far but it is a hot game so more cards may be coming later in the game.
45m0s Additional time of 2 minutes is indicated by the fourth official for the first half.
40m0s + 1m34s An extra time free kick if awarded to Koloale. Totori sends in the cross but Huia makes another fine save.

50m0s Solomon Warriors have won a free kick after a foul on Ifunaoa. Billy is there to take the kick but he sends wide.
52m25s Totori breaks past a couple of Solomon Warriors defenders before going for goal but Huia comes to pick up the ball and deny the striker who has bagged 21 goals already this season.
53m20s Another free kick goes Solomon Warriors way and Billy is there for the kick and he sends in a powerful shot but it turns away for a Koloale goal kick at the last moment.
55m20s A lovely display of skills puts George Aba out in front and makes the cross to Billy but Takayama cuts the pass out and the ball goes out for a corner kick. This corner kick is not used well by Solomon Warriors.
58m18s Totori picks up a loose ball outside the Solomon Warriors boz and he tries to turn in a shot but 2 defenders are on him and he is forced to make a mistake as Solomon Warriors make a clearance.
61m0s Ifunaoa beats his marker with a short burst of speed and he pushes forward but decided to shoot for goal from distance and the ball goes out. He had Billy to his right but he did not make the pass.
62m0s SUBSTITUTION: George Aba is replaced by Alick Maemae for Solomon Warriors.
64m23s Billy tries a shot from distance but Ramoni easily deals with it.
66m17s GOAL: Paia equalises for Koloale from a Nawo cross and Solomon Warriors’ lead is taken away. The Koloale fans are up on their feet to celebrate.
69m20s Ifunaoa is brought down in the box but the referee rules play on. The supporters are getting in the game and chants are coming up from the hillside sitting area. The ‘Go Solomon Warriors Go’ chant is being challenged by a less noisier ‘Go Koloale Go’
74m33s Ramoni is busy as the Solomon Warriors put more fuel into their attacking. Daudau went close first before Kakate launched a scorcher from outside the box which was met with a top save from the Koloale keeper.

78m14s Brian Feni tries a shot from distance and Ramoni struggles with the ball but Takayama recovers and clears it away.
79m11s Totori beats his markers and goes for goal only to see the ball deflect of one post and then another before going back into play.

16m12s Nawo crosses for Totori but he sends his header wide of the mark.
18m16s Koloale win a free kick for a foul on Nawo. Totori makes the cross and it goes all the way to the other side of the field before Omokirio picks it up. Omokirio tries another cross but Kwanae heads the ball away.
19m43s Totori misses another good chance to give Koloale the lead when tries to lob the ball over Huia but the Solomon Warriors keeper anticipated his intentions well and moves back to make the save.
22m19s Maemae tries a shot from outside the 18-yard box but Omokirio blocks the ball out for a corner kick. Maemae’s corner kick bends all the way out of play for a goalkick.
25m0s The lights at Lawson Tama have come on as play continues.
25m47s Wasi makes a promising run down towards the Koloale goal and tries a cross in for Kakate but the forward is not able to catch up with it and the ball goes out of play.
28m16s Aengari (Casper) shoots a loose ball towards the Koloale goal but Ramoni makes a good save.
Second half of extra time ends and the match is heading into a penalty shootout.
