U-20 championship scheduled for November

The Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) has confirmed that instead of the National High Schools Championship the Our Telekom National U-20 Championship will be organised as the final national championship event for 2010.
The dates have been set at November 15 – 27.
This announcement is in line with the original dates for the U-20 championship as scheduled in the SIFF 2010 Calendar of Events released in December 2009.
The last national championship for the U-20 age group was held in 2008 and SIFF is hoping that this year’s championship will be bigger than the last one.
Provincial Football Associations (PFA) qualify to send only 1 team each for the championship.
SIFF is calling on all PFAs to use October to finalise their teams ahead of the closure of registrations at the end of the month.
So far Honiara Football Association (HFA) and Western Football Association (WFA) have confirmed their participation.
More PFAs are expected to confirm their teams before the deadline of Monday 11th October, 2010. PFAs without access to email are asked to call SIFF on 26496 to get details about the U-20 championship.
The team list forms will be issued only to the PFAs who have submitted their confirmation to the SIFF office.
The hosting of the U-20 championship is expected to complement the current selection process for the Solomon Islands national U-20 side for the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) FIFA U-20 World Cup qualifiers to be held in April 2011.
The High Schools National Championship has now been rescheduled for June/July of 2011. Originally, it should have been held in June of this year but a clash with the Solomon Games has forced SIFF to move its date.
