Malaita Kingz open with win

The afternoon sun favoured neither of the clubs as it heated up Lawson Tama to an almost unbearable temperature and pushing the players to their maximum as they battled it out for the points of the season.
Malaita Kingz started off well and almost immediately after the first whistle started pushing their opponents against their own goal and almost breaking through on a number of occasions save for some unlucky final touches.
Charles Irobina was a thorn in the Real Kakamora left side moving with enough speed to leave chasing defenders behind but his crosses were not taken by his strikers.
Irobina’s hard work paid dividends when he himself latched onto a pass and on the rebound from his initial attempt found the back of the net to put Malaita Kingz in front to confirm his name as the first goal scorer of the Telekom S-League.
More hard work from the Malaita Kingz saw them win a number of chances after their first goal but they were not able to convert them as the Real Kakamora defenders looked to repair the damage already made.
The halftime break came as a blessing for both sides as they relished the chance to escape from the heat which was taking its toll on the players.
Returning in the second half and playing eastward, Real Kakamora, looked threatening but again and again the tough Kingz backline was always able to make a clearance at the right moment.
After wrestling the tempo of the game back in their favour the Malaita Kingz again went looking for the winner but tiring legs did not make things easy as chances started going to waste with missed passes and attempts at goal.
A stroke of luck in the 55th minute saw them score a valuable buffer goal and former Northern United forward Trevor Suinao was the deliverer scoring from close range to put the Kingz 2 nil in front.
Real Kakamora fought hard to get back in the game but failed to take their chances including an easy one right in front of the Malaita Kingz goal which Jakin Kua sent wide and that pretty much summed up their day.
Malaita Kingz, on the other hand, have claimed a well earned victory along with the 3 valuable point to start off with.
