Western United 1 – Hana 3

Hana’s victory came from an overall effort which brought out the best in their backline, midfield and forwards with Jeffery Henry once again making a significant impact in the game with an impressive all around the park effort.
The lead went Hana’s way after just 17 minutes when Remark Kwaria’s shot found its way past Western United goalkeeper Felix Ray Jnr. and it was soon extended when Tony Otini scored from the right where he was lurking unmarked to give his side a comfortable 2 nil buffer.
Western United got their opportunities to register on the scoreboard but their attempts, including a powerful free kick from John Anita, did not end up where they wanted them to go.
Hana increased their lead to 3 – 0 just before halftime when Henry headed in from close range a goal that surely is a candidate for the goal of the season.
Western United returned strongly in the second half to try to get back into the game but Hana had tightened their defence and gave them little room to move about with Croffson Mana and Berry Qalokale working hard to ensure all the points went their way.
Jimmy Qwaina was also outstanding in goal for Hana saving many shots from the Western United forwards that were destined for the back of the net including a powerful strike from Coleman Makau who tried his luck from 25 yards out.
Western United’s only goal of the game came in the 71st minute from Anita who worked hard throughout the game but could not get more on the scoreboard to save his side from their demise.
Substitute, Steven Lebo, came in late in the second half and also got a chance to score for Western United from a corner kick but his header was saved by Qwaina who completed an excellent day for himself as the worthy recipient of the man of the match award.
Western United will need to be on the top of their game when they meet Real Kakamora at 2:00pm on Saturday while Hana will be up against a KOSSA side that is looking for their first win in the second round at 4:00pm on Tuesday.
