Koloale 0 – Marist 1

Marist’s Brazilian coach, Juliano Schmeling, was on the sidelines but there was little he could to do improve the performance of this side as rain pummelled down for most of the first half resulting in several yellow cards and an expulsion.
Koloale defender, Jeffery Wasi, was given his marching orders after a second bookable offence but one could argue he should have been red carded for an earlier unwarranted kick on Dickson Maggi.
Maggi, on the other hand, put on a solid performance for Marist and was the architect of the only goal of the game. Possessing both speed and good technique he repeatedly beat the Koloale left defence but it was his first cross in the 10th minute that Laua connected with to score against his former club.
The rest of the match was an exchange of scoring chances that neither side could finish properly. With the wet conditions, Marist’s quick touch and go passes weren’t working and despite their extra man advantage could not extend their lead.
Koloale held on well but their attempts to get back in the match were thwarted mostly by their own mistakes rather than by the prowess of the opposing defence. Ben Hibiscus top performed up front but like in their earlier match could not combine well with his partners.
Koloale’s best chance of the game was late in the second half when Mostyn Mau went for goal from distance only to be denied by the cross bar.
