OFC President arrives in Honiara

He was welcomed by Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) officials and the Wa’ariri panpipers of West Are’are who gave Temarii a warrior’s greeting at Henderson Airport.
Temarii’s delegation included Billy Vaitoare, Vairani Davio (Win in Oceania Senior Project Manager for OFC), Scott Gillian (OFC Futsal Development Officer), Franck Castillo (OFC Social Responsibility Manager) and Patrick Jacquemet (OFC Technical Director).
Less than an hour after arriving in the country, Temarii and his delegation attended the opening ceremony of the Our Telekom National Kids Football, Cultural Exchange and Education Festival where he spoke to the guests and the participating teams.
Temarii’s visit is purposely to discuss with government officials OFC’s bid concept for the 2017 U-17 FIFA World Cup. Included in his schedule is a meeting with the Minister of Home Affairs who is also the Deputy Prime Minister of Solomon Islands, Hon. Manaseh Maelanga, whose ministry is responsible for sports.
Temarii is also expected to meet with Prime Minister Danny Phillip while he is here.
He will also meet with major partner of the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF), Our Telekom and major sporting bodies, the National Sports Council and the National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands.
The OFC delegation is expected to leave on Thursday.
