Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) President William Lai wants to thank the Australian High Commission for the invitation to meet Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in Honiara today.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison had a brief meeting with the SIFF President in Honiara as part of his historic visit to the Solomon Islands.
Lai believes that the Australian Prime Minister recognition of Solomon football is the beginning of better things to come for football players for both genders.
The football chief added that such invitation indicates that football is at the center of any development in the country, it is time that football and sport, in general, must not be left out.
On a personal note, Lai stressed that he is grateful to meet the visiting Australian Prime Minister on behalf of the football fraternity.
“It is a great honor and privilege to meet with Prime Minister Scott Morrison and his wife, Minister and Member of Parliament on behalf of my football associations, coaches, referees, stakeholders, sponsors, and players,” he said.
Prime Minister Morrison also had the opportunity to meet Solomon Islands future female footballers during a practice session at the Town Ground Rugby stadium today.
