Rirsbergen named 23-man squad for Pacific Games

Solomon Islands national team coach Wim Rirsbergen has named his 23-man team for the Pacific Games.

New Zealand based trio Micah Lea’afala, Andrew Abba and young lad Raphael Lea’i have been included in the 23-man squad.

Abba will be joining the team in Apia since his club Napier City Rovers will release the striker next week on Monday, July 1.

Unfortunately, both Lea’alafa and Lea’i availability are still uncertain at the moment as both players have indicated their unavailability to join the national team in Samoa due to unforeseen reasons.

Scotts College term finish on July 5 and Lea’i was given the green light from his college to join the national team. However, the young lad has opted to spend the holiday with his family upon his return on July 10 which is the matchday one of the Pacific Games.

The national team will fly out of the country for Samoa next week on Friday. The football competition of the Pacific Games will kick starts on July 10 in Apia.5
