Referees end elite workshop

Thirty five Solomon Islands referees have successfully compete an ‘Elite Referees Course’ at the Allen Boso Complex today in Honiara.

The three day programme started over the weekend on Saturday where top local football referees undertake sessions based on tactical fouls, discussion, handball concept, video analysis, offside concept and field training.

SIFF Referee Development Officer, Robert Sulimae said he is pleased to begin the year with his first task after taking office just recently.

“I am excited to take on the challenge as RDO and this workshop is the first of many for this year”, he said.

“Please bear with me since I have just taken office a month ago and I believe everybody will help me develop referee in the country.”

Leonard Paia, SIFF CEO reminded the referees of the vital role they play in football.

“I want to let you know that without referees a football game won’t happen,” Leonard said.

“You all have a big role to play in the development of football and I would like to encourage you to continue your great contribution to the game we all love.”

Final session of the workshop saw the refs involved in field training today at the SIFF academy field.
