Marist Fire register second win

The setting was a much cooler Lawson Tama compared to the 2 previous days of competition and this was of favour to both teams.
The Honiara side controlled the opening stages of the game but they did not make use of their chances much to the frustration of their assistant coach Patrick Miniti who was vocal about his disappointment with his midfielders.
Real Kakamora easily found their way into the game after Marist Fire’s early domination and Paul Hiri who was playing in defence in their previous game almost scored from his reassigned position as a striker about 15 minutes into the game.
After a number of promising runs into the Real Kakamoara penalty area Marist Fire finally broke the deadlock with a brilliant individual effort from Bentley Nalangu who ran past 2 defenders before beating goalkeeper Mike Ngidu to put his side ahead in the 25th minute.
Real Kakamora tried to put some purpose into their attack in the last minutes of the first half but staunch defending from Marist Fire kept them at bay to safeguard their slender lead going into the break.
The opening minutes of the second half was a near mirror reflection of the first half and Marist Fire again had the upper hand against their opponents who found it difficult to string together any solid moves from their midfield department.
Just 6 minutes from time a well organised corner set piece sees Marist Fire extend their lead to 2 – 0 when Jerry Sam curves in a shot after a short corner taken by Abraham Maezama and while the ball was touched by a Real Kakamora defender Sam will claim rights as the goalscorer.
Minutes later Marist Fire threatened to go further in front when Maezama broke down the line to shoot from a tight angle but Ngidu was able to block it and a few minutes later another chance goes to waste as Michael Patiti misses a cross from Augustine Tagana right in front of goal.
Real Kakamora also got some good chances in the dying minutes of the game but just like on Saturday the day did not belong to them and their opponents were happy pick up another 3 points to register a total of 6 from 2 games.
