FA coaching course next week

The program will begin on Wednesday 1st December and continue until the December 8 and involve an expected 44 participants from Honiara and the outlying provinces.
According to the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) Head of Technical Department, Noel Wagapu, the courses provide an unprecedented opportunity for local coaches looking to further their qualifications and careers.
“SIFF is very proud that its partnership with the English FA has enabled this course to be delivered locally for the first time. This year is especially special because we have the extra component for goalkeeper’s coaches and this is one area that will greatly benefit the country,” Wagapu said.
Two (2) instructors from the English FA, Geoffrey Pike and Edward McCluskey, will be travelling over to run the coaching course and they will be accompanied by a goalkeeping coach instructor, William Stewart, who is based in Australia.
The team is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday 30th November.
This is the fourth and final instalment of the yearly coaching courses offered by the English FA through SIFF under the current Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2006.
In addition to holding courses in Solomon Islands, the English FA through the MOU also provides training for selected coaches in England such as the one attended by Jacob Moli and Luke Eroi in September, this year and Commins Menapi and Gideon Omokirio in 2009.
Wagapu is urging nominees for the course in the provinces to contact the SIFF office on 26496 or email him on to confirm their attendance before the close of registration on Thursday 25th November at 4:30pm.
“We call upon all nominees for the course to quickly confirm their registration and organise their travel to Honiara,’ Wagapu said adding that the SIFF Technical Department has been working closely with the Provincial Football Associations since October to organise participants for the 2 courses.
Participants are required to arrive before the starting date and are asked to meet their travelling costs to and from Honiara for the course and SIFF will meet accommodation and meals for their stay during the course.
A course fee of $25-00 plus the Solomon Islands Football Federation Coaches Association (SIFFCA) registration fee of $50-00 must be paid before a nominee can be allowed to participate in the coaching courses.
