Solomon Warriors 3 – Hana 0

The Moses Toata coached side had to work hard for their first goal and this came after more than forty minutes of play. However, the ride from there became less uncertain for Solomon Warriors who refused to be threatened by Hana’s relentless pressure throughout the entire match.
Dennis Ifunaoa put Solomon Warriors in front just before halftime when he found the back of the net after the ball was left free for him just inside the Hana penalty area. With the all important first goal in the bag Solomon Warriors upped the tempo in search for more goals to secure their advantage.
Solomon Warriors’ lead was furthered in the 67th minute when Jerry Donga danced past more than a few defenders before scoring from a tight angle. Donga’s run started from just over the halfway line and was part of a single pass counter-attack that left the Hana defenders with little time to move back into position.
The fact that they were 2 nil down did not affect Hana spirits and they continued with the pressure on the Solomon Warriors and Cornelly Rata was only slightly off target twice before Solomon Warriors took the game beyond their reach.
With 5 minutes left on the clock Solomon Warriors were 3-0 out in front and again it was a counter-attack that provided the goal. Welshman Houkarawa picked up a loose ball in his own penalty area following a corner kick and then sent a long pass down the left before running into position on the right where the return pass floated nicely for him to head home for Solomon Warriors’ third of the day.
Hana were never outplayed in the game except in the scoring department where Solomon Warriors absolutely had the upper hand. A good number of scoring chances fell Hana’s way but getting the shots to go right proved to be out of reach for Hana’s forwards.
