Solomon Warriors 2 – Malaita Kingz 2

Malaita Kingz performed solidly in the first round but lacked the finishing capabilities up front and the inclusion of several new players seemed to be working for them at least in this game.
Their opponents also benefitted from their new players with Frazer Maebule making the right impact and getting the goals that saved his club from embarrassment.
Michael Taeman put Malaita Kingz in front after just 15 minutes racing in front of his markers before shooting past Paul Huia who did not move out quickly enough to narrow down the angle for the advancing striker.
Under pressure Solomon Warriors looked to get back in the game but the task was not made easy by the tough Malaita Kingz defenders who were unrepentant in their efforts to win the ball away from their opponents.
James Naka tried his luck several times before the half hour mark but could not find a way past Leon Fox who is fast gaining a reputation as one of the top goalkeepers in the Telekom S-League.
Maebule calmed Solomon Warriors nerves down when he equalised just before halftime after picking the shot out from the crowded Malaita Kingz goal area following a corner kick.
The second half was more to the favour of Solomon Warriors but they were not able to finish their moves and this quickly led to frustration from several of their key players who were being denied the rewards of their work by strong defending from Malaita Kingz.
Halfway into the second half Malaita Kingz were awarded a penalty from a foul in the Solomon Warriors 18-yard box and Alfred Ali who just came back from suspension sent the ball home with a shot to the left of Huia.
Behind for the second time in the game Solomon Warriors brought in fresh legs to find a way through but the goal they were looking for did not come until play entered extra time when Maebule headed home past Fox to draw the scores level before they referee could end the game.
Malaita Kingz will take on Marist Fire at on 4:00pm on Thursday while Solomon Warriors have their 4:00pm date with leaders Koloale on Saturday.
