The women’s football department revealed groups for the Women’s pre-season which is set to start on independence day at Lawson Tama in Honiara.
Twelve (12) teams Police Yellow, Haura 2, Koloale FC, Marist FC, Wansol Kumuls, Solright FC, Wansol Frigates, Naha FC, Police Blue, Haura 1, Renbel Ibis, Wansol Orchids were drawn in two groups.
The pre-season is part of the preparation for the Women’s national league which is proposed to start later this month.
Recently, SIFF President, William Lai had revealed his plan to start a new league for women.
“We are optimistic to start a top league for women in the country which will consist of 8 to 10 clubs,” he said.
“Women game will not be neglected and SIFF is working on a path a direction to ensure more women to participate in the game.”
The league will follow the same pathway of the Telekom S-League as the country’s premier club competition for women.
Like the S-League, a Women football committee and board will be formed to run the competition and find sponsors for the participating clubs. SIFF President will be the chairman of the committee.
