Honiara City maintains top form to remain number one on the TSL standings following their impressive 3-1 win to upset current Champions Solomon Warriors on matchday 22 at the Lawson Tama stadium.
City found a breakthrough in the opening 20’ minutes through Junior Rocky who had a tussle with Warrior’s custodian Timothy Maerasia to tap in an empty net. Milton Taolo responded for the Warriors 20 minutes later to level the score heading for a breather.
The second period looked like either side could get the advantage, however, Rocky adds his second in the 65 minutes before Junior Allen seals the victory at full-time – to remain at the summit with 26 points.
Waneagu United also dominated Marist FC with a comfortable 3-0 win to move third in the standings with 21 points.
Don Keana found the opening in the 19 minutes from close range and a goal each from Patrick Waneta and Ali Mekamir to seal the important win.
The day’s main match saw KOSSA FC find a late win against a determined young SOSA FC in the second half. Speedster Alfie Aunga was on target to score a brace to move the Eddie Marahare side into the second spot with 22 points.
Matchday 23 will feature another lineup of match actions as FC Juniper Tree will take on bottom place Real Kakamora, Central Coast FC up against Henderson Eels, and Laugu United taking on Southern United to wrap up Match Week 10 before the competition goes for a weeklong break to before resuming round 2.
