In a pulsating Match Week 8 of the Telekom S-League round of matches, KOSSA FC salvaged a dramatic 5-3 win over FC Juniper Tree, persistent paid off for Waneagu United in a 1-0 win over Marist FC and Henderson Eels and SOSA FC also made the climb at the weekend.
KOSSA FC drew first blood in the opening 10 minutes, courtesy of Philip Feni.
The former FC Juniper player found the back of the net, setting the tone for what would be a high-octane encounter. The situation worsened for FC Juniper when their captain, Richard Raramo inadvertently nodded the ball into his own goal, doubling KOSSA’s advantage.
However, FC Juniper was not ready to back down. Veteran James Naka converted a penalty to pull one back, injecting hope into his team. The momentum continued to swing as Ben Gebe equalized just before halftime, ensuring the teams went into the break level at 2-2.
The second half maintained the intensity, with Lency Norman putting KOSSA FC back in front. This lead was short-lived as Junior Banisi’s well-placed strike restored parity once more. With just 10 minutes remaining, the game was finely poised at 3-3.
KOSSA FC’s lethal frontman, Junior Ere then showcased his speed and skill, netting a crucial goal to give his team a 4-3 lead. As the clock ticked down, Philip Feni completed his brace, securing valuable points for KOSSA FC with a final score of 5-3.
Rolland Mamanika’s penalty conversion was the difference in a heated contest, propelling Waneagu United into the top three of the standings.
Henderson Eels edged Honiara City 3-2 in a breathtaking thriller. The Eels surged to a 3-0 lead but had to withstand a late resurgence from Honiara City, who scored twice to set up a tense finish.
Eels held firm to claim maximum points and ascend to the league’s pole position.
SOSA FC stunned Real Kakamora FC with a 2-0 victory, thanks to a first-half brace from youngster Junior Michael.
Under the interim guidance of veteran coach Luke Eroi, the young SOSA FC side displayed impressive resilience to secure their second win of the season.
