TSL Match Week 8: Marist FC bagged winning rights while Warriors were held and KOSSA FC’s resurgence continues

Marist FC secured a significant 3-1 comeback victory over FC Juniper Tree, moving them into the top 5 standings.

The victory was spearheaded by Gibson Tobi, who scored twice in the first half, turning the game around after Marist FC initially fell behind.

Richard Gore added a third goal in the second half, sealing the team’s second consecutive win and bringing their total to 14 points. FC Juniper Tree’s head coach, Gideon Omokirio, highlighted the need to improve the team’s mental fitness and consistency in his post-match comments.

Another notable match saw Waneagu United and Solomon Warriors end in a dramatic 2-2 draw. Waneagu United took an early lead with goals from Kevin Fika and an own goal by Warrior’s defender Loea Mani.

However, Solomon Warriors responded before half-time with goals from Dennis Ifunaoa and John Alick. Despite the intense second half, both teams were unable to break the deadlock, resulting in shared points.

This draw ended the Warriors’ 7-match winning streak but kept them at the top of the table with 16 points.

In the day’s main fixture, KOSSA FC achieved a crucial 2-1 win over SOSA FC. Bobby Lidi put SOSA FC ahead early, but KOSSA’s Junior Ere equalized before halftime and scored the decisive goal in the second half.

This victory allowed KOSSA FC to escape the bottom of the standings, now with 4 points, trailing just behind SOSA FC, who remain on 5 points after Match Week 8.

Honiara City to take on Real Kakamora FC at 1:00pm and Laugu United up against their neighbors Southern United at 3:00 pm at the Lawson Tama stadium.
