TSL MATCH WEEK 6: RACE INTENSIFIES AFTER AN ENTERTAINING MATCH WEEKEND

Real Kakamora tightened their grip on the top seat after Match Week 6. Henderson Eels, Central Coast, Marist FC, and Waneagu United climbed up the standings over the weekend.

Real Kakamora maintained a record of five unbeaten runs with a 1-0 win over Laugu United in Match Day 11. Michael Lalo’s 61st-minute goal was enough in a tight contest, securing their position at the top of the table.

“It’s a work in progress to maintain these five unbeaten runs in the league,” said Kakamora’s head coach Steve Aumanu Jr in a post-match interview.

“Fairly we are now finding our rhythm as a team composed of very young players, but they have executed what is expected.”

As a new side under the Real Kakamora brand, it’s been a challenging start to the season for the former Waneagu United Coach.

“The first time it’s challenging, there’s a lot of inputs we put in terms of training with the one objective to compete fairly in the top flight.”

Henderson Eels also bagged maximum points to move up the standings over the weekend with the return of former coach Eddie Marahare, now giving instructions from the sideline in a 5-0 demolition of Southern United.

Table Standing as of Match Week Six.

KOSSA FC’s losing woes continue, suffering a 0-4 loss to Central Coast FC, who moved into the runners-up spot, 2 points behind the current leaders.

Waneagu United and Marist FC moved up the Telekom S-League standings after respective wins on Match Day 12 on Sunday.

Bobby Kennedy Leslie’s 13th-minute strike made the difference in a dramatic clash against a determined FC Juniper Tree, keeping a tight contest mid-table.

“Tough win for us. FC Juniper Tree is a competitive side, as obvious today, but we are satisfied to walk away with the 3 points,” said Waneagu United’s head coach William Omokirio.

Marist FC’s second-half Alfred Sade’s goal separates the sides in a mouthwatering contest against Honiara City FC, as Patrick Miniti’s led side moved up three places in the standings.

Match Week 6 only featured five matches due to Solomon Warrior’s delayed return to the country following their OFC Champions League campaign.

However, the champions will take on SOSA FC in a mid-week catch-up schedule for Wednesday, May 29th at 3:00 pm at the Lawson Tama stadium.
