The Telekom S-League (TSL) 2022/2023 season awards night ceremony was held last night at the Pacific Crown Hotel (PCH) as special awards and the top four winning teams were awarded for their achievements in the season.
For the special awards, the referee of the year, assistant referee of the year, coach of the season, goalkeeper of the season, and player of the season were given to the best in each category.
OFC badge holder Timothy Niu received the Referee of the year award while FIFA badge Bernard Mutukera gets the Assistant Referee’s award.
Southern United received the Fairest team award for their positive disciplinary record in the league last season.
Only started his coaching a season ago with boyhood club KOSSA FC and leading Solomon Warriors to their 7th TSL title, Franco Ne’e is the coach of the season.
For the player’s awards, Solomon Islands international custodian Philip Mango who is away on international duty got the nod from the SIFF technical study group as the Goalkeeper of the season.

Solomon Warriors creative midfielder and Vanuatu international John Alick received the Golden Ball and Player of the season for the second time having won the accolade two seasons ago.

KOSSA FC is back among the big guns finishing second to get silver and $170.000.00 while former Champions Central Coast FC received $130.000.00 and bronze medals.


Key speakers during the ceremony are representatives from SIFF, the TSL board, and major sponsor Our Telekom.
SIFF Vice President, Marlon Houkawara highlighted SIFF’s commitment to contribute towards players’ and clubs’ welfare in the new season and thank the sponsors, SIFF competitions, Media, and other stakeholders for their contribution towards the success of the 2022/2023 season.
Chairman of the TSL board, Anthony Makabo congratulated the winners and acknowledged the club managers, players also the major sponsor Our Telekom. He added that the clubs deserved to be recognized for their commitment despite facing challenges in the past season.
Our Telekom Chief Commercial Officer, Francis Waehero revealed that Telekom is committed to sponsoring the league for another season as a way of giving back to the people.
