TSL 2024/2025 season gets underway

The Telekom S-League has started with three exciting matches on the opening day.

Central Coast FC, last season’s runners-up, started their campaign with a 6-1 victory over SOSA FC, earning them maximum points.

New signing Bobby Leslie proved his worth with a brace, while Junior Fordney scored twice, making them both a menace in attack.

Despite Central Coast’s dominance, a young and energetic SOSA FC team showed resilience and scored a consolation goal from the spot, with Wesley Toitani converting.

Central Coast FC substitute, Haydn Irodao, also scored twice, securing a strong start to the season.

Southern United FC against Honiara City FC fixture was the day’s main thriller.

John Orobulu was unstoppable, scoring an early goal for his team in the opening 20 minutes, in a match that was intense and could have gone either way.

City’s towering forward, Junior Allen, was in the right place at the right time to slot home from a rebound and level the score before Joseph Nowae struck from close range to lead at half-time. However, just 5 minutes into the second half, Southern United responded with an equalizer, making it 2-2.

The Tibon Oge-led band showed determination and was rewarded in the dying minutes to full-time to win 3-2 – a perfect start to their campaign to open their league account.

The day’s final fixture saw a new look Laugu United got all the points with a rampant 5-0 win over FC Juniper Tree.
