Tri-nation international friendlies postponed

The Tri-Nation international friendly matches scheduled to take place this month have been postponed by Fiji Football Association due to growing concern of likely spread of the coronavirus.

The Tri-Nation was scheduled to be played according to FIFA international dates on March 23th and 29th.

However, the national team will continue its training sessions despite the postponement of the international friendlies with Fiji and Tahiti.

National team caretaker coaches Eddie Marahare and Stanley Waita have been conducting the sessions over the past weeks.

“The squad trained on Monday morning this week but couldn’t continue on other mornings this week due to rain & the bad weather,” Marahare said.

“In consultation with Stanley we agreed that starting next week we will scale down training due to the postponement of the tri-tournament in Fiji to 2 days per week (Tuesday & Thursday afternoons 4 pm to 6 pm) at Lawson Tama.”

Meanwhile, the official appointment of the national team head coach will be announced soon to guide the national side leading up to the OFC Nations Cup in June.
