Top eight (8) futsal clubs in the country will be challenging for the SIPA Championship scheduled to kick-start on Saturday 29 February at Multi-purpose Hall in Honiara.
According to the competition’s regulations, the championship challenge shall be played in a two-stage championship format which consists of the group stage and top two teams from each group advance into the semi-finals the finals.
The group stage shall be a single game between the eight (8) clubs/teams in the competition divided into 2 groups as per their standing from the 2019 SIPA Futsal League and applied in the following manner:
Group A
Kooline FC
The Saints
KF Gold
Joma FC
Group B
Marist FC
Island Brothers
Mataks
Koloale FC
The top eight clubs cannot register a player from other teams competing in the championship since player transfers may take place only during the FIFA approved transfer periods from December to January and June to July of each year.
However, a club can register a player who is not registered to any of the top eight teams.
The awards and prizes for the championship shield shall be as follows:
- Winner: $15,000 plus trophy and 20 gold medals
- 1st runner-up: $10,000 plus 20 silver medals
- 2nd runner-up: $5,000 plus bronze medals
- 3rd runner-up: $3,000
A full schedule of the championship will be released on Wednesday 26 February.
Meanwhile, a technical meeting for team managers of the eight clubs is set for Wednesday 26 February, 5pm at SIFF academy conference room.
