Suri believes women’s national team can compete

Solomon Islands 🇸🇧 Women’s national team coach Batram Suri believes that the national side has had the best possible preparation at home since June last year.
The former Solomon Islands international took the helm of the women’s national team under the guidance of Spaniard 🇪🇸 Felipe Vega-Arango who is the head of high performance and national teams at SIFF.
Suri speaks to SIFF Media on the process of selecting the final squad and is adamant that the selected players are ready to compete against much-fancied opponents at the OFC Women’s Nations Cup to have a chance of progressing into the later stages of the competition.
He revealed the final squad will be made up of mostly young players and a few experienced players in a team for the future.
The national side will depart on Saturday 2nd July to settle down early in Suva ahead of two international friendly matches against Melanesian wantoks Vanuatu 🇻🇺 and powerhouse in Oceania women’s football Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬 before taking on New Caledonia 🇳🇨 and hosts Fiji 🇫🇯 in the group stage.
