The Solrais Women’s Premier League was officially launched over the weekend on Saturday at the Coral Sea Resort & Casino in Honiara as SIFF signed a one-year sponsorship contract with Solrais to become the major sponsor of the 2020 season.
A sponsorship was signed between SIFF and Solrais who handed over a cheque of SBD$100,000 and will provide its products for the woman of the match during the competition.
Solrais country manager, James Bradford said his company is happy to become the major sponsor for women’s football in the Solomon Islands.

“Solrais is proud to be a major sponsor of the women’s league that’s a something we’d like to involve ourselves in the development of women and sports is a good discipline,” he said.
“Solrice has been investing in the development of sports and communities for 45 years. The launching of the women’s premier league will be a highlight of those 45 years and going forward.
“We wish the women’s league all success for now and to the future and we here to support that”.

SIFF President and chairman of the league board, William Lai thanks Solrais for taking the initiative as the major sponsor for a new era in the women’s game in the Solomon Islands.
“I would like to sincerely thank Solrais for accepting our proposal and to finally become our major sponsor,” he said.
“I assured you that we will deliver a successful tournament with the support of all our other cosponsors such as the Coral Sea Resort & Casino, Kramer and others.
“This is a new era for Solomon Islands women’s football and I would like to wish everybody all the best as we start the inaugural women’s premier league.”
Miss Solomon Islands🇸🇧 Gladys Habu and other key women leaders, sponsors and supporters of women’s football were in attendance to witness the launch.
Hon. Lilliam Maefai was the guest speaker and in her speech, she highlighted the key roles women’s play in sport and societies.
Also the Women’s football theme song, ‘Equals in the Game, ‘ produced by Top Records will be officially performing live by Amy and producer Baka Solomon.

Football is the only active sport in the country due to COVID-19 as SIFF has permitted to run its competitions.
On the administration side, SIFF has appointed board as the decision-making body of the league. SIFF President William Lai is the chairman and the board members are Fred Wickham and Diana Taison.
Youth leagues for under-16 and under-19 are proposed to start later this year for schools and clubs who have teams in the senior league.
The inaugural Women’s Premier League will see 8 teams Koloale FC, Wansol frigates, Naha FC, Solright FC, Royal Police FC, Haura FC, Marist FC and Renbel ibis.
The Solrais Women’s Premier League is set to start this weekend on Saturday 15th August 2020.
