Solrais Women’s Premier League debut season


The inaugural Solrais Women’s Premier League is set to start tomorrow at DC Park in Honiara for its debut season.

Koloale FC and Frigates United will get the tournament underway at 10 am before Marist FC and RSIPF kick off the lunch hour clash.


New to the women’s football scene, Solright FC will make their first competitive debut against traditional powerhouse Naha FC at 2 pm while Haura FC wraps up the opening day at 4 pm against Renbel ibis at DC Park.


Koloale FC and RSIPF FC are the favourites since they have the service of several Solomon Islands international players in their ranks.


Preseason winners Koloale FC has the service of an experienced player-coach in the form of Cyrstal Bakolo and Ileen Pegi while RSIPF FC will be banking on former Wellington United forward Lydah Samani.


Naha FC, Frigates United and Marist FC will be challenging for the title and underdogs Solright FC, Renbel ibis and Haura FC will be aiming to make some impression in the women’s top tier in their debut appearance in the women’s game.


SIFF President William who is also the chairman for the Solrais Women’s Premier League board said tomorrow will go down in Solomon Islands football’s history as a new era for women’s football.


“I assured you that we will deliver a successful tournament with the support of Solrais and all our other cosponsors such as the Coral Sea Resort & Casino, Kramer and others.

“This is a new era for Solomon Islands women’s football and I would like to wish everybody all the best as we start the inaugural women’s premier league,” Lai said.


SIFF has secured a 1-year sponsorship deal with leading rice company Solrais for this season.


Other co-sponsors of the league are Appco coating, Kramer Ausenco and the Coral Sea Resort.

The inaugural Women’s Premier League will see 8 teams Koloale FC, Wansol frigates, Naha FC, Solright FC, Royal Police FC, Haura FC, Marist FC and Renbel ibis competing for the bragging rights of Solomon Islands women’s football.
