Telekom S-League
Central Coast FC extended their lead at the top of the TSL standings with a goal-scoring spree against Southern United on Sunday at Lawson Tama Stadium.
The win means Central Coast is just nine points away from a first-ever title in the top tier as we are four games away from the end of the season.
Now with 44 points and five points clear off title contenders Solomon Warriors, Coast coach Jacob Moli said noting is secured despite his team being in pole position.
“We try to concentrate on one game at a time and not try to think too ahead because we need to focus on the next team we going to play against,” He said.
“This season is very tough even though we are in the lead. There are some teams who are in the hunt for the first place so nothing is secured. We just have to take one game at a time and treat every opponent with respect”.
Solomon Warriors had to dig deep to overcome a determined Honiara City side to keep their heels behind the league leaders. The six-time TSL champions are still in the race with 39 points as four games are remaining into the business end of the season.
Debutants and fan favourite Waneagu United back to winning ways with a commanding 3-0 result against bottom side Kula FC to maintain the third position with 36 points.
Defending champions Henderson Eels continue their strong run of form in the second round by defeating KOSSA FC 4-0 on Sunday to close the gap in 4th place and still in a chance to claim the OFC Champions League play-off spot.
Laugu United slip up again as Marist FC come out on top with a 2-1 win while Jaygray Sipakana lone goal saw Real Kakamora defeat Vfresh Isabel United as both teams are equalled on 27 points and are still in the race to finish in the top four.
