The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) B License coaching course for top coaches in the country will be held for the second time in Honiara by the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) next month.
A historic first-ever OFC B Licence was held in 2017 with more than 30 participants which include some top coaches such as Batram Suri, Stanley Waita, Eddie Marahare, Jerry Allan, Jerry Sam, Henry Fa’arodo and the late Commins Menapi.
SIFF Technical Director, Moses Toata confirmed this in his upcoming coaching education programme.
“Please note that the OFC Education Department together with the SIFF Technical Department will be conducting the Part 2 of the OFC B License Course which was conducted here in 2017,” he said.
After the first part in 2017, the country’s top football coaches were assessed over the last 24 months which enables them to continue with the second stage before being accredited as an OFC B License holder.
“After the successful completion of the 8 days course in 2007, the coach participants were given post-course tasks which were to be done over a period of 12 to 24 months.
“I am very pleased to see that all the coaching participants have completed their required assignments and are now ready to be assessed.
“The coach participants will be given some more time to practice before their final assessment and accreditation,” Toata added.
The OFC B License is the second-highest level of coaching qualification in the region.
Toata stressed that the course has been upgraded with some new content, therefore, all remaining participant needs to prepare well for the final assessment.
“The OFC B Licence Program has been improved and upgraded so coaches will need to work hard to be able to get the accreditation as a licensed football coach.
“There are 16 local coaches in the current B Licence program and they have completed all 6 post-course assignments in the program,” the OFC A License holder explained.
The course will be held from 5th to the 8th of August at the Allen Boso Complex in Honiara.
The success of football is very much tied with the success of coaches at the individual level.
In recognition of this, a very strong push is being made by the
SIFF technical department to train qualified coaches for local clubs and national teams.
By impacting football positively through coaching, it is expected that overall success will come about.
Apart from the OFC coaching programme, Toata revealed that SIFF also has its education programme for the latter part of this year.
“SIFF also have other courses lined up for this year.
“The MA Goalkeeping Certificate and the Introduction to Goal Keeping courses will also be conducted here from the 12th to 15th of August, the OFC Senior C Licence will be conducted here in September and the Futsal Youth and Senior Courses will also take place in September.
“A coaching Licence is renewable through a refresher course after it expires in a period of 4 years,” Toata revealed.
