SIFF President to attend final OFC meeting while bidding Warriors the best on their Champions League campaign

The Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) President William Lai is attending the OFC executive meeting next week Wednesday 17 May in Vanuatu.

This will be Lai’s final OFC duty as the SIFF President following eight years (2 terms) in the football realm.

The President departed for Vanuatu this week.

For Lai, it will also be an opportunity to watch the club champions Solomon Warriors FC at the 2023 OFC Champions League that will kick off this Sunday 14.

“I would like to thank the Club President Hon. Bodo Dettke to keep the club always at the top since I became President in 2015,” Lai said.

“It’s not easy financially nor the efforts in management to always stay at the top. Therefore, I thank you very much for your contributions to elite football development in the country throughout the past years, and I wish you to continue the journey to another level.

Warriors will take on Champions Auckland City FC in their opener this Sunday at Luganville Soccer City stadium, Port Vila.

“All the best Warriors! This year might not be the best, but the team’s desire and determination for success will take the club forward representing the country. And I will also share the joy if the club reaches its highest achievement this time round,” Lai concludes.

The SIFF elective congress is on June 22, 2023.
