The Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Makira/Ulawa Provincial Government to initiate the development of the proposed Kirakira Football Stadium – a collaboration through the Makira/Ulawa Provincial Football Association (MUFA).
The signing marks a significant step towards expanding football facilities in the provinces.
Makira/Ulawa Provincial Premier Stanley Siapu and SIFF President Donald Marahare expressed a shared commitment to enhancing opportunities and fostering football development.
The Kirakira Football Stadium project represents SIFF’s ongoing commitment to promoting football across all levels.
Hon. Siapu highlighted the importance of having the infrastructure and its beneficiaries in the local community.
“This partnership with SIFF signals a new era of sports development in our football-loving province. The project will provide a modern venue for our young people and contribute positively to our community’s social landscape,” Siapu said.
SIFF President Marahare emphasized SIFF’s commitment to supporting local football infrastructure and expressed excitement about the new project.
“The signing of this MOU represents a significant investment in the future of football in Makira/Ulawa Province. SIFF is dedicated to empowering communities by providing the facilities and resources necessary for football to thrive,” Marahare stated.
The stadium project is expected to unfold in multiple phases, beginning with site evaluations, design planning, and securing resources for construction.
SIFF also outlined its plans to commence groundwork on the stadium project in 2025.
Collaboration with the Makira Ulawa Provincial Government through the Makira Ulawa Football Association (MUFA) will be pivotal in achieving milestones and ensuring the project’s alignment with community needs and aspirations.
