HEAD Coach for newly crowned Honiara Football Association (HFA) champions SEWA United FC Eric Hurutarau says team work was key to their successfully campaign.
SEWA United FC was crowned the champions after defeating Mars United FC 2-0 in the grand final match at the Lawson Tama Stadium.
Two goals from Desmond Hanaka were enough to hand SEWA the win while two goals from Owen Binabo and Tony Lifia earned Henderson Eels FC third spot in the competition despite a Marlon Sia goal for Mataks FC in the losers final.
Coach Hurutarau dedicated their win to the people of South East West Are’are (SEWA) saying team work was key to their successful campaign.
“We are happy because we came as the underdogs and now we are HFA champions, so yes we are really happy with the result,” Coach Hurutarau told SunSPORTS after their win.
“We did not expect the result when we started the competition last year. It was not until we reached the quarterfinals that we started to believe that we can get the job done.
“This is a big achievement of the boys. The team consists of mostly home based players who came over to Honiara for school.
“The key to our campaign is team work not only with the players but also our officials. As the coach I also have help from other members of our technical team.
“Its history for the club because we are a new club formed at the beginning of the season and is a big achievement and we dedicate the win to the people of SEWA.
“Thank you to those people who have been supporting the team through finance and water during our training. Big thank you goes also to SEWA Soccer Nuts social football team for meeting our registration fees,” Hurutarau said.
