Senior call-up for New Zealand-based lass at the XVII Pacific Games

New Zealand-based Lydia Ko’osui Tegerobo is anticipating yet another whole new challenge representing the country now with the national senior women’s team at the XVII Pacific Games.

The national women’s Under 19 player was included in the Batram Suri’s squad following a memorable run recently at the OFC U19 Women’s Championship in June this year.

Lydia teams up as a reserve in a 27-member squad to feature on home soil – an opportunity she is proud and thrilled about joining the big girls.

“I’m very excited!

“It’s a dream coming true for me to represent my home country,” the soon-to-be 18-year-old said.

She’s an academy youth product of Northland FC, New Zealand Club with the U16 and U19 girls’ categories.

Currently, she’s a school prefect at the Whangārei Girls High and played in the first XI football school team.

Of full Malaita percentage – her dad is from Kwara’ae and mother from from To’obaita.

“For me, it’s been an amazing journey and I’m grateful to be part of the team and getting more experience on what’s like. I thank God for giving me the talent strength, knowledge, and wisdom to where I’m now.

She pursues a career guided by coaches including two Solomon Islands football legends playing as a forward.

“My parents, mum, and dad for supporting me along the way believing in me and my friends and supporters back in New Zealand. My Northland FC coach Liam for the hard work throughout my early days playing with my national U19 coach Eddie Rukumana and now with Coach Batram.

“I want to make my team and the country proud at the games.
