The new Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) Academy will formally open its doors to the football public on Monday 8th January 2024.
Following the new home of football handed over on 28th December 2023 by the national government, it will begin its operations and look forward to working closely with its partners for the continuous betterment of the sport.
SIFF President Donald Marahare reiterated his acknowledgment to the then DCGA Sogavare-led government to ensure the world-class facilities are delivered.
“The federation is already excited to take ownership of these magnificent facilities. It is indeed the beginning of a new era for football development as the facilities will fully transform the whole football landscape of the country.
He said that as the national custodian of the sport, the federation will continue to work with all stakeholders to ensure these facilities are a conveyor belt of excellence for footballers.
“I’m optimistic, that the scheduling and the usage of the facilities will optimize and enhance football participation in the not-too-distant future we will see talents emerging into our national teams,” President Marahare stated.
“The federation takes ownership with great responsibility. We now have a bigger home, a much bigger home.
He also highlighted the challenges related to the upkeep and maintenance of the facilities.
“SIFF will make sure the facilities are maintained and continue to be maintained at the highest level and standard.
