Coaches who wish to coach teams in the Telekom S-League 2021 new season must-have an OFC Senior C License as a requirement set by the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) to align with its development plan in upgrading the standard of coaching in the country.
SIFF Technical Director, Moses Toata said the requirement is a fundamental step towards football development and coaches with OFC Senior C License will be eligible to coach teams in the Telekom S-League.
“Only Coaches with OFC senior C License will be allowed to coach in the National League,” Toata said.
“We have many coaches who have already completed their C Licenses and currently doing their senior C License who will be allowed to undertake the role of head coaches in the next TSL season”.
Toata stressed that coaches played an important role in football and qualification should be a benchmark for coaches who want to do coaching as a profession.
“Coaches who have no qualification will not be allowed to coach, therefore we encourage coaches to attend as many coaching courses they can attend in order to deliver the right development module for players,” he added.
“Many coaches claim to have football knowledge, but coaching is a profession which demands the right training and self-development in order to bring football development and raise the standard of football in the country”.
Toata further stated that in football the world over, only People who are accredited will be recognized to deliver football development and this is a very important baseline in football when it comes to raising standards.
