The Solomon Islands National U16 Boys Head Coach Moses Toata expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance as winners of the OFC Men’s U16 Championship – Qualifying stage in Tonga.
The team scored 29 goals and conceded none from three matches played against Papua New Guinea, Tonga, and American Samoa – securing their place in the OFC Men’s U16 Championship 2024 in Tahiti, which is the Oceania qualification for the FIFA U17 World Cup 2025.
Toata credited the team’s success through hard work and collective effort.
“I’m happy for the team, absolutely. We were sent on a mission to qualify and we have accomplished what we came for, winning all three matches,” Toata told SIFF Media from Tonga this afternoon.
“I want to thank all the boys and the team management for their effort during our preparation and at the qualifying stage.

He continues to express gratitude for the tremendous support for the boys.
“I would also like to thank every supporter back home, parents of the boys, the SIFF President, and the staff – the general public.
Toata who is also the SIFF Technical Director emphasized the importance of early preparations ahead of the main qualifiers in July.
“We will need to continue to strengthen the team and set focus early to be competitive for the important qualifiers.
