Former Solomon Islands U-17 player Maxwell Keana will testify on November 29 at a disciplinary hearing scheduled before the OFC Disciplinary/Ethics Committee as a result of a written complaint lodged to OFC by the player and his family backed by Joel Konofilia who is currently serving a 3-year ban from SIFF sanctioned football-related activities.
It is understood that Maxwell Keana and his family lodged the complaint following the player’s removal from the U-17 team before the team’s departure to Brazil for the U-17 World Cup.
Formal charges have been laid against SIFF and Maxwell Keana by the OFC DC/Ethics Committee after the Committee had received a written complaint supported by information that the player who played for the Solomon Island’s team at the OFC U16 Championship 2018, was born in 1998.
SIFF has already responded to the charges although it is understood that SIFF will be making additional and further responses in the coming days. Meanwhile, SIFF is also carrying out its own investigation with a view to charge the player and bring a disciplinary case against him before the SIFF Disciplinary Committee.
It was unfortunate that Keana is going through this during what is undoubtedly one of the most exciting times of his playing career.
The SIFF Secretariat has confirmed that it has already delivered a notice of hearing in relation to the case before the OFC DC/Ethics Committee personally on the player on Friday 8 November.
The hearing, which will be convened by the OFC Disciplinary/Ethics Committee via telephone conference is set down for 10 am on Friday 29 November at the SIFF conference room.
