SIFF Super Futsal League (SSFL) Champions Mataks FC is confirmed to compete at the 2023 SIFF Junior Futsal Championship next week in Honiara.
The two (2) times Champions will head back into the court as part of their preparations for next year’s 2024 OFC Futsal Men’s Championship in Noumea, New Caledonia, which will take place from the 23rd to the 28th of April 2024 – following OFC’s confirmation on key dates for the new competition calendar.
SIFF Super Futsal Board made the confirmation while introducing the senior men’s category.
Just Futsal NSW Australia teams and three futsal clubs from the Bulk Shop Futsal League will be competing in the category for the first time.
Mataks FC head coach Francis Lafai said their participation is timely, as he will be looking to get his boys back to serious action.
“It’s been a while but it’s a great opportunity to prepare a competitive team for next year’s main challenge,” Lafai said.
“We are getting the team into training this week and the SIFF Junior Futsal challenge will be a test competition for us as to getting the players back to form and continue towards April next year.
The OFC Futsal Men’s Championship will gather six (6) futsal club champions from Fiji, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Tonga, Vanuatu, and the Solomon Islands.
