Mataks FC is making good progress in their preparations for the OFC Futsal Men’s Champions League, thanks to a financial boost of $50,000 from the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) towards their campaign.

This support is part of the federation’s efforts to assist clubs representing the country at the Oceania level.

The event will take place in New Caledonia from April 23 to 28, and five teams will be competing, including Veitongo FC from Tonga, Mataks FC from the Solomon Islands, UNV FC from Vanuatu, Suva FC from Fiji, and AS PTT from the host nation.

Mataks FC Team Manager Thompson Mae expressed his appreciation on behalf of the team, saying that such a gesture from the federation encourages them to perform well.

He added, “We want to thank SIFF for the support that will go towards the club’s preparations and during the competition. It’s a big support for us, and we are thankful.”

Mae also acknowledged that competing against other regional clubs won’t be easy, but their preparations so far will determine their performance at that level.

“We are very much looking forward to representing SIFF and the country as a whole and competing at the highest level.”
